Environmental impact studies

The environmental impact assessment is the preventive procedure to which any plan or project likely to have a significant effect on a site or proposed site of the Natura 2000 network must be submitted, either individually or in combination with other plans and projects and taking into account the site's conservation objectives.

This procedure was introduced by Article 6(3) of the Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC with the aim of safeguarding the integrity of sites by examining the interference of plans and projects that are not directly linked to the conservation of the habitats and species for which they have been identified, but which may affect their environmental balance.

Consequently, all promoters of plans or projects that may have significant effects on a site or proposed site belonging to the Natura 2000 network must submit to this procedure an Environmental Impact Study, which is a technical report, signed by a competent technician, that analyses the interferences of the plan/project on species and habitats of the Natura 2000 network. The Study has to be drawn up according to the guidelines of Annex G of DPR 357/97 and according to the "National guidelines for the assessment of impacts (VIncA) - Directive 92/43/EEC "HABITAT" article 6, paragraphs 3 and 4".

IRIDE, thanks to the experience it has gained in the sector, having drawn up a large number of studies relating to plans and projects, some of which of considerable size, can guarantee a high quality of analysis for the production of the environmental impact study and support in the procedural phase for the promoter of the initiative.
